Much of my work is street photography and social documentation. I often climb buildings to take photos, finding interesting angles and capturing what’s hidden from the ground. I’m particularly interested in protest and how the voice of the underrepresented taking to the streets can inform social change. I photograph street fashion, underground culture, squats demos and the marginalised. I take portraits randomly out and about, in a person’s natural space without directing them. This can be both beautiful and brutally honest with a person’s fragility penetrating the lens. The day this image was taken, there was a buzz of energy, a feeling of tension that anything could happen. Anger that the Education Maintenance Allowance had been taken, and freedom to study compromised.
